    yes you can (And you don't need any other software)…iTunes can use MP3 (or mpeg audio files as it describes them somewhere)., so there is a chance your files are already MP3 (you can check by right clicking on a track, and get info, summary page)….if they aren't already mp3 you can use the Tools menu (think it's called tools)…and there is an option to convert to MP3. There will also be options for changing the encoding to mp3 so future encoding is done in mp3. You can use the right-click, 'get info' to see the true location of a file and copy or move to somewhere suitable for media player (once it's an mp3)….google is your friend (lots of ingo around)..but yes you can do it
