I’m currently using a Sram 9spd drivetrain on my bike with double and bash and Stinger up front.. I’m thinking about maybe swapping to a 1×10 set-up with a chain device. What’s the minimum list of new bits that I’ll need? It’s been suggested to me I could use a 9spd rear mech with a 10spd shifter but I’m dubious.

no, you’ll need 10 speed mech, shifter, cassette, chain and probably a 1x chain device of some sort.
