This job is the first time I’ve been a contractor so the answer might be the obvious one but I’m not sure if there’s some convention about how to deal with it.
My current contract runs out end of Dec
I am on 1 month’s notice
I’ve been verbally promised an extension (and I’m sure that’s true)
I’m not entirely sure I want one 😕
Based on previous extensions here, they will wait until the last possible moment to send me the new contract, so probably 30th Dec. In the meantime, if I have a massive tantrum on, say, 23rd Dec and tell them what I think, will I be expected to sign a contract just so that I can work a month’s notice, or is the notice period limited by the end date of the existing contract and I can just walk out ?
Like I said, I think the answer is obvious but I’ve never been in this situation before. And I realise the tantrum/walkout is not going to be a brilliant career move 😆
