    Long story short: I have a Galaxy S3 that I want to give to my mother. Was a Vodafone contract but had it unlocked when upgraded.
    Stuck a Voda pre pay sim in it yesterday and I can’t make/receive calls.
    Seems to be a common problem. I have looked online and tried a couple of solutions but nothing helped.
    Anyone on here that have experienced this issue and managed to fix it.

    Does the SIM work in another phone? Sounds like what you’d get when the SIM wasn’t activated.

    I can’t see it being an unlock issue; even if it was still locked, you’ve replaced a Voda SIM with another Voda SIM. Unless Voda do something spectacularly unconventional that I’m not aware of, that should just work.

    I’m just about to test the SIM in another phone.

    Sorted now, SIM worked in other phone.
    Put it back in the S3, promoted to choose network ( Vodafone UK or Vodafone Prepaid )
    This is where the problem crept in, I chose prepaid the first time, so this time I chose Voda UK and it was working.
