Looking for ideas / inspiration for family holiday, not necessarily involving bikes!

Anyone have any recommendations for places to stay within say, 4 hrs drive from Calais ?

    Thanks 🙂

Not sure of places to stay as such, but Normandy is sublime. GO to the Musee de la PAix in Caen, visit Arromanches etc. Lovely part of France.

bit longer than 4 hours, but the Loire Valley is nice. It’s where we’re heading this year. We’ve booked a Gite.

    +1 Normandy.

a bit further afield, probably double your driving time, The Dordogne is nice. Perigeux, Sarlat, Brive, Les Eyzies, that kind of area, especially if you’re into prehistory, cave paintings & such like. Collonges la Rouge is a particularly nice little village, all the buildings are a really deep red sandstone, hence the name…
Local specialty – walnuts. Oils, cakes, patisseries, the works
