On holiday soon and going with the bike.is there any long offroad trails leading to Whitby way? Need a few all day rides in.
Plus what bike? FS,29HT or CX?

    Cheers.

there is a very good route from pickering, north through newton on rawcliffe, then cropton forest, past wardle rigg, over two howes rig, down to goathland.
then up and over Whitby road, to lilla howe, round the back of fylingdales, up over whinny nab, and across the road at hole of horcum. then track to levisham, over the crossing, back up to the newton/pickering road.

tis a nice route on a hardtail.

Good advice there. Trails on simons howe / two howes rig are fun if dry.(especially the drop to goathland is great fun). If you are after some techy stuff check out needle point and pifelhead wood in cropton. Also good descent near Raper’s farm-waterpale slack on OS 25k

This one was fun last week. . First half of Dalby then fish and chips on the beach in Robin Hoods Bay, then back.

NIce tours round Rosedale as well, and checkout the Hole of Horcum. 29ht or CX

There’s some great rides out that way. The lads in the North Yorks section on Retrobike know this area like the back of their hands so might be worth asking them.

This is one of my favourite rides – a bit of road, but the descents make it worth it. Beautiful countryside. Mail me if you want the gpx. (click pic for higher res).
