Planning to build a new hardtail over the summer, and hoping to re-use the Avid brakes from my existing hardtail. Is it ok to mix different manufacturers for gears and brakes? i.e. Avid brakes and Shimano gears?
Also can you use Avid shifters with Shimano derailleurs?
    Thanks.

EDIT – Also can you use SRAM shifters with Shimano derailleurs?

Yes. Brakes and gears are two completely different systems that don’t have any effect on each other.

No, because Avid don’t make shifters.

SRAM won’t work with Shimano if it’s a numbered shifter X7/X9/etc if it’s named (eg. Rocket) then it will.
