I bought a 27,5 Nobbly Nic Tubeless ready EVO pacestar online when buying a new bike. In comparison to the Hans Damf on the front it’s given me nothing but problems.

It was a nightmare to air up, only worked with C02, had lots of leaky pores that Stan’s couldn’t seal at first, and has so far given me two flats on trails.

Does anyone have advice? Did i get a dud or are they all like this?

New 2.25 rear tyre options in 27,5?

Never had a Nic that didn’t go up with a track pump.

mine were tight but ok.

Mine were both very puncturey- they went up fine and… mmm, can’t remember how well they sealed but it can’t have been bad or I’d remember. But they were always picking up cuts and holes in the tread face. They were both snakeskin versions but I think that’s maybe just sidewall protection. Frankly I wouldn’t touch them again, I didn’t think they were particularily good at best, and they wore too fast to boot.

so what about different tyre suggestions?

Specialised Purgatory 650b 27.5 grid… good price I love them…I have just removed NN from my bike, a cut in the sidewall in the rear, didnot like the handling characteristics of the front don’t rate them !!

On closer inspection i have an inch long gash in side wall. Ugh. Tried a genuine innovations bacon strip to no avail. If i air it up to 40 psi it starts leaking sealant everywhere.

I like the look of the purgatory but I have very little clearance at the back and all I can fit is a 2.25 tyre. Specialized only do 2.3.

What are people’s thoughts on the Ardent? I’ve heard the sizing with Maxxis can be hit and miss.

Pretty happy with my Conti MK protections. Easiest tyre I’ve ever set up tubeless as well.

Lots of people like the ardent on the rear, it is a true 2.25. I didn’t like it, it felt very twitchy when leaned over, but I am heavy at 17.5 st. I ran it tubeless at about 32PSI so you may be ok if you’re lighter than me (most are!) and can run a lower pressure.

I get on very well with a Specialzed The Captain – comes in 2.2 and 2.0, really good tubeless rear tyre for uk trails; don’t put the s works version on the rear as the side walls aren’t up to it.

I actually live in Spain so conditions are much drier than in the mother land. lets hope the conti MK arrives in time for weekend!
