Is this why White Van Man’s always so angry? His lunch is about to be eaten…

Several years ago I used to frequent a model shop in islington . Where one day a youth came in interested in purchasing a remote controlled plane that would be able to fly from London to Birmingham carrying a two kilo payload .

The shopkeeper said he could not help him,
    And doubted anyone could.

It was just an idea said the youth before leaving.

So what’s driving the technology? LiIon batteries? Why has this kind of drone suddenly become viable?

Well at least this one was honest in saying that it’s years away from a viable product.

I have colleagues who use UAVs to survey landscapes for various different reasons. The technology is coming on in leaps and bounds. Unfortunately the US FAA have put a dampener on things which new regulations about flying UAVs in the States – applications and flight plans needed for every single flight. There are masters courses being shut down because of this. It’s a shame because these drones could be really useful.
