  • NO HOT WATER – HELP!!!

UU turned the water off in our area for some repairs / improvements. The water is back on and cold runs fine. However there is no hot. Turn on hot taps and nothing. Checked boiler and seems fine (combi). No hot water tank, hot water on demand. I’m thinking air lock or something. Tried various combinations of hot and cold on but hot will not run independently.

    Please help!!!

Have you checked that you have enough water pressure to your boiler?

Is the heating running? If not then as Jossie says may be a pressure issue but really it shouldn’t be as the heating will be a sealed system on a Combi. Sounds like there may be something stuck in the diverter valve that isn’t moving so it isn’t sending a message to the PCB that you are drawing demand for hot water.

    What boiler is it?

I have solar thermal and deliberatly over speced so as to extend my heating season….. as a result have 750litres of bloody hot water and the heating system kicked in to stop it boiling…. You can have as much as you want if you live near me…. happy to post some if it helps.

    What boiler?

airlock? Open all hot taps. Another method is to connect the cold to the hot with a hose to purge the air but may not work if you have one way valves installed.

Sounds like it’s lost pressure. There’s usually a valve you open to fill the reservoir. Sorry that’s as technical as I get with boilers but google your model and someone will have posted a solution.

    Google your boiler model.

Find out how to re-pressurise the tank and then maybe do a hard-reset, re-light pilot, etc. always start with the most simple things – rather than over-thinking it. Ours (Vaillant) doesn’t stop working if the pressure drops.

Hatye to break the bad news but UU dont supply or provide hot water as yet, but plans are a foot to provide district heating from large water users, who have surplus hot water, posibly a bit dirty though.

Are you saying theres no water coming outof the hot tap or the boiler isnt working?

Ideal Logic 30 combo. Starting to wonder if it’s a pressure issue to the house. Turn on all the taps, hot and cold, and it’s not as it should be.

Cold taps work but nothing from hot?

Weird! Is there a safety valve or summit that’s closed on a solenoid reacting to loss in pressure?

If waters flowing from the tap. Then some debris has probably guffed the flow sensor. If theres pressure in the boiler, inside the boiler the flow sensor. From memory if the hot tap is running and it flashes red its guffed. Solid red light is working correctly iirc

A couple of things to try….

Are you getting water from the tap when you turn on just the hot tap but the water is cold? Might need to re-pressurise the system.

Turn off electric to the boiler for 10 minutes. Then turn it back on. Might just need a reset. You might need to re-do the timers etc afterwards.

What flux says. The Logic has a hall sensor which detects the flow turbine spinning to send a command to your PCB to make the boiler fire for hot water. Either the flow turbine is knackered, the hall sensor is knackered (if it doesn’t light up it’s goosed) or, if you mains pressure in is very low it might not have enough flow to make it fire.

This is all assuming that CH is working okay and boiler is working normally other than that.
