For a few quid you can get a little pouch that goes round your laces. Worka well, just try to not to completely submerge too often.

take sensor. insert in old cut off piece of innertube (you probably have some of these lying around) seal up with electrical/gaffer tape. insert under laces and above tongue and run. water proof and next to free. It worked with mine for as long as I bothered to use it. (got a garmin forerunner after).

I superglued a patch of velcro to the sensor. Then had a velcro tie that went around my laces. Or buy a special pouch.

Even better, take it back and put the money towards a Garmin Forerunner – I could never get the Nike+ system to work accurately for me, even after several attempts to calibrate it. Would always be way off.
