I’m building up a helius fr frame I’ve had for a while. Build is done pretty much, but in the process of fettling I’ve been checking everything over and I’ve noticed that the back end of the bike doesn’t move freely at all with the shock removed, it needs a lot of force to shift it. It seems fine with the shock in place and sat on the bike however. Is this normal or do I need to replace the bearings/bushes?

    TIA

It’s perfectly normal. As long as the movement is smooth and not ‘notchy’ you have nothing to worry about. You also don’t want any side to side play. You can adjust how tight things are using the pre-load caps so have a go at loosening them off but if that results in lateral play, tighten them up again.

For reference, Turners use the same bushing type arrangement and have similar levels of stiction.
