There was another chap who came and did our local club TTs on one who got soundly beaten by most people. The biggest difference buying that made to me is that it forced me to train hard enough so as not to embarrass myself (the only people who used to beat me were generally also riding pretty good bikes, and competing at elite level) – though on the downside, now I’m not training so hard I’m reluctant to take part in club TTs for similar reasons.
