Recently started drinking coffee after 37 years. I am under the impression that gold blend is one of the nicest. Am I wrong, what else is recommended?

Starbucks Via, if you must, is a cut above the rest of the instants imo.

Yeah I like a Douwe Egberts for a smoooooth instant taste.

If I want something with more bite I make a proper coffee.

Clipper organic decaff. The one with the green lid. It's so nice, I prefer it to other caffeinated brands. Highly recommended.

fairtrade is the way to go.

Overpriced inferior products. People buy this shit just to think they are doing some good.

It does do some good tho – especially with coffee and chocolate.

Some fairtrade instant coffee is acceptable – I would say it was great tho

I concur. (but don't know for certain)
Anyway, what's the point of these threads? One mans meat is another mans poison. I can drink most coffee apart from proper cheap stuff, without going 'BLEURGHH!' I must have no taste buds.

Didn't like the fairtrade coffee or tea I tried and i've only got to look at my corporate clothing to see the shody stitching and odd size's for clothing.

For instant coffee I like Douwe Egberts or Carte Noir.

    Mine too.

Call me a total pleb but the best coffee I've even had was from an isolated café off a trail near Morzine. It was a double espresso … with cream… and a tiny sprinkling of sugar… mmmm

I do try and avoid Nestle stuff, but their Pretentious Range or whatever it's called has some nice stuff. Alta Rica's decent, Cap Columbie's my own favourite, good enough that I can't be bothered with anything else really. Don't really like the Parisien but it's indistinguishable from a lot of "proper" cafe coffee to me. The Green Blend is interesting, tastes a bit fresher and, well, quite reminiscent of weed smoke, though that's not how they describe it.

The Espresso is impressive. Looks like Espresso, smells like Espresso, tastes of MDF.

I avoid all Fairtrade coffee as I can't help feeling that it's an attempt to rip me off. Presumably what they refer to as "fair" is me paying overinflated prices so that some greedy coffee bean growers can overcharge for their produce.

And I don't buy into this nonsense about it helping to pay for their children's university education ………….. why would anyone need a university degree to grow coffee beans FFS 😕

The only "lesson" they need to learn, is how market forces work. And the best way to teach them that, is to make certain they only get the market rate for their coffee beans ……………. ungrateful greedy gits 😐

I would avoid Nestle products (specially KitKats) as TJ suggests, because they have started to introduce Fairtade produce. Basically just don't buy anything with the Fairtrade logo.

Buy it in the Eco Refill bag & feel good about yourself.

Jar sizes – 100g and 200g. Refill pouch, "new size" 150g. They've thought about this, haven't they. I don't want 'new size', I want 'old size' to refill my gorram old jars. Hence, y'know, "refill."
