I would say anywhere but Prescot, Whiston or St. Helens. I grew up in Rainhill, what I would probably describe as a posh village by comparative standards and that was mostly a dump.

I really am puzzled by the comments that St. Helens has got it head screwed on.

I’ve worked in sunny Toxteth/Dingle for the last 18 years, but work with quite a few who live in the Sefton park/Lark lane/Mossley Hill area or as some call it “The Golden triangle” and it has a good feel to the area as many say.
TBH Liverpool gets a right load of shit flung at it and as an outsider I have to say only about 5% of it is true which could be true for any city. Only Liverpool has probably some of the most stunning buildings & scenes outside of London but without the cost.
I’ve done my city living though so now live about 2 miles further into Cheshire than Surfer 😉
