Some suggestions please 🙂

My daughter has outgrown her Rothan and I’m not quite sure what to replace it with. She turned 3 back in January but she’s tall for her age and feels a bit cramped on the Rothan with the seat at full extension. The next size up in the Islabike range is the Cnoc14 but I’m not sure she’s ready for pedals yet, unless I fit stabilisers which I’m not keen to do as her balance is pretty good at the moment and I don’t want her to lose that ability.

Any suggestions welcome.

We moved from a Rothan to Cnoc14 at about 3 and 4 months, and it was a smooth transition!

Cheers guys. I clicked the send button before finishing my post – doh! Already have a Rothan and the Cnoc14 was the first bike I looked at.

You could always get the cnoc 14, or whatever fits and if she’s not ready for pedals, take the cranks off and its just a bigger balance bike for a bit. Put the cranks back on when ready for pedals.

Yak’s idea is very sensible, especially if you think she’ll move onto a Cnoc at some point soon anyway.

But that’s quite a bit to spend if it’ll not be used for long (not withstanding good resale value etc).

I notice that the LikeABike Jumper has “footrests” which might be something that she can progress with before moving onto pedals – but it doesn’t really look any bigger than a Rothan.

We tried yaks idea with our oldest on a cnoc, only issue is that the bb area and chain stays are not the narrowest, and there were a few scrapes- certainly wasn’t as smooth going as her wee brothers Rothan.

Don’t put her on stabilisers. If she balances fine on the Rothan she’ll get the hang of pedals straight away. Our eldest was doing all the proper pedalling within 5 minutes of getting off the Rothan, so I wouldn’t necessarily think that she’s not ready for them. Give it a go.

Yak – I think that might be the way forward. I might be worrying about nothing though………she’s used to pedalling her trike at my folks house, and I’m always amazed how well she rides the Rothan so like Markie above her transition to a pedal bike might be straight forward enough.

I agree with ricko’s do not put your child onto stabiliser. I have taught my 3 to ride and moved them all from balance bike onto a normal bike and if they can balance well on balance bike then it will not take long for them to get peddling. Run both bikes side by side so the child can choice which to use depending on how they feel.
Also in my view islabikes guide to sizing is alittle on the small size and I have always brought bikes a little on the larger size and they my children have never had any problem and they then last abit longer.
