I am in need of some new shorts as I have torn mine to shreds.

I need some that don’t have a liner, as I use lycra shorts underneath, and are suitable for long xc rides (I have other pairs I use for dh). Oh, and not too pricey either.

Oh, and secure pockets would also be good.

Altura Mayhem are great… £35, tough as old boots, comfy, decent pockets (though no zips on the front ones, the tops stay closed naturally though). They do come with a liner, but it’s fully removable. I’ve got 2 pairs, haven’t been able to convince either one to fail in any way so I don’t know what the lifespan is, but it’s very good.

There’ll probably be others in the range that are just as good though
