They’re like T5s around our way – beautiful and high quality bits of kit but are so common, you’re just like, meh, yawn. I can’t get my head around how such a large proportion of bikers I know can afford to own both.

somebody’s stuck fox stickers on that pike up top 😕

From my experience they cost about the same at the top end as a lot of other brands – comparible to the s-works pricing for example. I guess the Alu models brings back the middle ground again that they moved out of a few years back. US prcing looks very keen too – well until the USD/GBP rate gets applied…

I think the fork is the new Fox Rhythm OEM/Budget range

Because they probably don’t. Who owns a car these days? – majority are PCP aren’t they where a relatively low monthly amount is paid to ‘hire’ the car for 3 years before giving it back and starting with another one.

No heckler, superlight or chameleon. New owners no history

Good to see lower price points appearing. It will be aluminium bronsons on the back of the t5s in the post brexit exchange rate world.

A bit like Jim up there, everyone and they’re dog has one round here.

Hmmm, no colour change on the Nomad which is a shame, but the spec has been altered quite a bit. Don’t want 1×12 eagle or RF rims and DT hubs and not showing any fork upgrades ether 😕

I used to love Santa Cruz bikes having owned a few but I just don’t fancy them anymore. Do nothing for me, especially at the prices they’re being knocked out for. Meh.

interesting they’ve upped the forks from 160mm to 170mm across the nomad range

might have to give that a try, ive always ran mine at 160mm, but a few folk have run theres at 170mm and said it felt better too

Its a pity as SC used to be a bit of a different brand that not everyone had. These days everyone has/wants one and the new aluminium option makes it more accessible to all.
If the bikes were not so well designed and didn’t ride beautifully then i would be looking elsewhere.
There is a lot of specialised riders down our way and that always put me off.
I don’t consider myself elitist, just like to be original.
I do own a 5010CC and a T5 though, maybe i should be shot at dawn?

They’ll still be overpriced, not slack enough, too short in Reach and too tall in Stack.

And still hold nobody back, it’s amazing people buy them….

I can’t justify cost of SC but fairplay to those do, keeps bike industry people in work and they run/support a great dh team

I think that SC accounts for about 1/3 of all the bikes I see on the trails here in Hong Kong, they are so de rigueur…but being an ex. TRc owner I can see why they are popular and now the have changed that bottom pivot design I would consider one again.

got an old heckler and love it, quite like the look of a lot of their current line up but prices have just gotten silly, couldn’t give a monkeys about whether they are niche or common as muck. If the ali frames are sensible prices then I may get one, we’ll see. But unless I decide to treat myself, money (almost) no object then I’ll probably go for 2nd hand or a last season’s discounted deal (which SC don’t do)

The UK prices are not up yet but going by the usual conversion factors I’d say the Bronson will be about 1800, a 5 is 1600… The Pound/Dollar will be the issue

Alu frames £1600, bikes from £2500.

Prices *should* hold until Sept at least, here’s hoping that the £/$ recovers somewhat by then.

Email me info@18bikes.co.uk for more details. We have pricing, but have a BIG job to get those live on the webshop!

Going back to the OP’s original post, does this mean it’s the end of the line for the single pivot Superlight and Heckler models?

Discontinued afaik, yep. May be some stock left if folks are interested.

The Pound/Dollar will be the issue

from memory when the pound was doing really well against the dollar, something like 1:1.8 the RRP conversion was still 1:1, so I’d expect it to be at least the USD price, possibly higher if/when the pound sinks further.

edit simon has posted prices while I was (slowly) responding

Needs a cheaper DH bike in the line-up, bullit, super 8 type thing.

Why is there an such a stupid unnecessary hatred of Santacruz bikes? They make bikes for riding round pointlessly in the woods. They are not going to cure cancer or solve world peace. Its for fun. If you can afford one and want one then buy one. If you cant afford one or don’t want one then don’t buy one.
My experience of owning two has been very good. I’m not fat, I’m not rich, I don’t have an audi or a T5 and I ride my bikes a lot and work hard to pay for them. I didn’t hate them before I bought one and Everyone who has ever spoke to me about my nomad in the real world has been very positive apart from 2 people who I wouldn’t listen to anyway. One who has a specialised he cleans but barely rides and fat bloke who didn’t think I would do some jumps because I was on a santacruz.

Most of the internet hate I think comes down to jealousy, They are expensive and probably no better than many other bikes available but a lot of the hate just comes across as childish jealousy.

I love my two and would definitely buy another.

I also think they make some of the nicest looking well designed bikes available. You never hear of a nomad owner moaning about spending an hour threading an internal cable or wear on a badly designed linkage.

I’m glad they haven’t changed the nomad just yet. Means mine hasn’t become rubbish over night and only good for the bin.
Interestingly i have 170mm on the front of mine and there were no negatives going from 160mm. I don’t think the axle to crown was much different though from the forks I had (fox 34 20014 – fox 36 2016). I will say though that I cant tell it has an extra 10mm in a good way either. It feels good at both.

andysredmini, some people are just funny like that. Don’t pay any attention to the attention seekers – it’s their problem not yours. Ride your bike and enjoy it. I do.

@simon thanks. Personally I’d rather give my money to Cotic and Cy

As for Hong Kong I think with taxes at 15% people like to have a little luxury in their lives

Take a look at Rotorua, more SC’s than I’ve seen in a long time.

Some great pricing on the Alu frames now, good bike prices too

As with most bikes/frames call your local SC dealer, they will call the importer and ship one to you in exchange for cash.

Or, more fittingly in some cases, enve.

They do some nice bikes, but they seriously need to sort out the colour schemes they choose. They pretty much all look dreadful.

Santacruz dont have them in stock anymore – I was wondering if anyone had seen one on display in a shop somewhere gathering dust

    mikewsmith

Fair enough, thought there would be more about as they only seem to have taken it down yesterday. I’d probably still go that route as the importer can bang an email out to all their dealers seeing who still has stock (works locally with some other brands)
A few years back the Oz importer was trying to get hold of a frame out of the US if they had some left on the next shipping container so always worth asking.

Pretty sure North West Mountain Bike Centre have one, they may still have one as a complete bike too LinkyMcLink

…and for what it’s worth, they are still a great ride. Rode one on a test ride 12 months ago and thought it was great.
