She’s only 10 weeks old – she’s got a lot of growing to do to become a full-sized poodle.

Has to be the cutest puppy on STW today. Shouldn’t have shown my daughter!

Co-incidentally I was just watching Crufts with the stupid overgroomed poodles. I was just thinking there should be a decent dog in there somewhere! I quite like a standard poodle as nature intended. What are the breed and behavioural characteristics?

Please don’t take Poppy to the poodle parlour, let her embrace her curls. Oh and a polite request to have regular updates with pics obviously. 😀

Surprisingly, as we live in the middle of nowhere, a neighbour half a mile down the road breeds toy poodles and does clipping – but she doesn’t like silly haircuts, so a general all over trim is what we have in mind when Poppy needs it.

I think at 14 weeks she has now reached the doggy equivalent of the “terrible twos”. I’m sure she does things she know she shouldn’t on purpose. And she’s torn my favourite new jacket today…

Intelligent, daft and completely clingy seems to sum up a lot of poodles.

Puppies are ****ts. Ours is 16 weeks and beginning to settle down, but still wants to chew the boys (my children, not, you know, the boys…) and still races off with a sock or pair of pants when you try to put the washing on.

Can’t wait for him to get to a year old and behave a bit.

Thread needs more pictures. We had a boxer when I was young that basically remained a puppy her entire life. She was also stone deaf, which made things interesting.

    More puppy pictures please 😀

Our cockapoo has the ‘undesirable’ characteristics of both her half breeds; she’s absolutely mental / always busy from her working cocker mother (we were warned, keep them busy or they’ll go self employed and you won’t like the jobs they find for themselves – I’ve lost several good pairs of merino socks that way, she only likes mine, and the sweatier the better). And from the poodle she always wants to be around – you can’t open the fridge door without her appearing a nanosecond later (she’s faster than the light coming on, I’m convinced), and is constantly chatting, little grumbles and groans and growls about nothing and everything.

All par for the course!! 18 months to Two years they chill out finally!!

Can someone please resend the memo to her – 4 years now, still into everything…..

The chewing and sock thing lasts ages I think – our dog is now 16 months old and she’s no less mental than she was at 10 weeks. If anything she’s worse!

Not just socks that get stolen – anything goes – and she’s stealthy like a ninja…..

Cute when they are little but still as much fun as they get older.

Fin was a bundle of fluff when we got her

@Tracey – How does Fin do running at bike pace in a muzzle? Is it a specific make? My mutts seem to overheat or tire quickly whenever I’ve tried it.

    Tracey
    Full Member

She has the muzzle on because she continually trys to get my shoe laces when we are out on the bike. and I end up with big bruises on my left leg from when she gets the lace and wont let go. Its a rubber one and they came in different sizes. She dosent seen to overheat or tire wearing it or not wearing it.

Its the same as this, Baskerville Ultra Muzzle

She’s grown a bit, from 8kg when we got her to now 17.5kg, and getting taller too.
