Our 15wk old Lab/Doberman cross which we got a week and a half ago has started sleeping a fair bit during the day recently. Is this normal? ie like a baby requires alot of sleep? and that maybe he's now settled in so not quite so crazy?

Yes, dogs, puppies especially, spend most of their day asleep - make the most of it, soon he'll want to play much, much more.
You'll notice after walks he'll sleep a fair amount as well. Nothing to be worried about.

It's good sign! Shows he's happy and relaxed, and sleep does them good.

As said above, your dog will spend most of it's life asleep! Quite handy really, they make lovely ornaments.

Wow, your shoes are still in one piece. Don't expect that to last
Joking aside for chinese restaurants - one locally was just closed down after someone discovered a pet microchip in their take-away.

Dog owners aren't as feeble over their pets (and with humour) like cat owners are.
