Alright here are my facts.

1. I saw a Marin van outside A417 flyup
2. They did a launch there last time
3. Its closed today, TBF though its always closed on a Tuesday.

So come on then what are they launching, im assuming a LT 29er like everybody else at the moment!

Wideopen mag have a story about the 2018 Rift Zone, 29″ with 130/120mm travel. Could be that?

I’m a Marin fan but not sure about the look of the Wolf Ridge 8.

I’d be surprised if the Wolf Ridge hadn’t had more than enough coverage already.

Marin had a demo day at Swinley on Saturday and I had a go on the Wolf Ridge. Swinley isn’t the greatest testing ground for it but my summary of it was ‘nice, but only in the new bike with everything working as it should’ sense. Didn’t feel 6.5k special that’s for sure, just very smooth.

Gopping.

I’ve mentioned the hideousness of the Marin carbon bikes before. Suffice it is to say that even if I had £6.5k to throw away on a bike tomorrow, it wouldn’t be on a Marin.

The alloy bikes look quite okay in an inoffensive sort of a way.

B17 looks good…

B17 & Attack Trail 8 looks good to me

I’m a fan of ugly bikes but that goes beyond my borders. Swingarm looks impressive in itself though but as a whole, boak.

Back end reminds me of the old Trek VRX.

Obviously they don’t make anything else as challenging to look at as the Wolf Ridge, but this one is no oil painting either…

Retro paint jobs on the adventure bike and plus bike are nice though.

I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Marin ‘cos I’m old, but **** me, those are truly gopping.

B17 3 looks awesome in my opinion perfect travel for the uk and can stick some 29ers in it if you want to go a bit faster / further.

UK has some pretty diverse riding for ‘perfect’ travel.

Hee hee…yes, when I first saw the pics, I thought they’d really pushed the fugly boat out. However, having seen a couple of them in the flesh, I was surprised by how much better they look than the pics. Maybe not a pretty bike, but it’s certainly different to the usual clones – & demo riders sounded impressed with how it rode.

I do love the look of the B17, the classic graphics and skin walls make me think back to bike porn of the 1990’s!! 😆

I also like that B-17, one of the very few bikes that seems to aesthetically work with gumwall tyres.

They seem to have a very diverse range of suspension systems on offer. That Gopping Link device, some single pivots and a dual pivot there somewhere.

Mrs PJM still owns a 2008 Rock Springs, which was a very handsome bike back in the day (Mrs PJM is still just as lovely), peak Marin was definitely that Krypton green Attack Trail with Lyriks and a tapered headtube. They seemed to lose the plot again after that.

A friend and quite fast racer has demo’d the new Marin and he reckons is the best enduro bike he’s ever ridden and he’s demo’d most of em
