This was an epic tour with an unexpected ending. Hopefully it will be of interest to anyone pondering a similar ride.

Having seen the Scottish Highlands and Islands pic thread, I think my next tour will be nearer home, if we could just guarantee the weather.

I missed a turn and did an extra Devil. We camped at the Bullards state park.

    Prairie Creek?

North of Eureka and full of huge Redwoods and Sequoias IMO way better than the Avenue of Giants.

I camped at Bullards as well 😀

We camped at a state park on the Avenue of the Giants, it was pretty damn good. I rode through woods you mention, it was a lot quieter than the Avenue, I walked in along some of the trails too. We rode on through Orick to the coast and camped at Patricks Point State Park. Those few days were pretty special.

great stuff Pete…I didn’t get the surprise ending tho…due to the rain?

Al, it was frostbite and snow that did for me in the end. The remaining passes in Washington were all at least a thousand feet above the snow line.
The last few days into the Willamette Valley were ok despite the rain, but that too is really a ride for the summer, not November.

Scary stuff! Fairweather tourist here, tho I’ve ridden through the odd freak hail/snow storm in Europe, no fun at all.

‘breakfast with Michael j. Fox’? Quality name dropping, Pete MC!

Michael J Fox was indeed his name, he was a retired insurance loss adjuster from Tucson AZ, not the actor.
