I've recently bought a new QR Hope seatpost clamp to replace the non QR that came witht he bike. Problem is no matter how tight i do it up it still won't clamp the seatpost in position? At first i thought it was the post being over greased or something but i've just swapped back to the non QR and it tightens it up well, without over tightening.

Any ideas folks??

Is the lip on the Hope collar catching the seatpost before it tightens up on the seat tube?

either a different clamp, shim under the clamp over the seat tube or file/dremmel some of the lip off.

I find Salsa flip-offs have a pretty small lip.
