The Leyland cypress, Cupressus × leylandii, often referred to simply as leylandii, is a fast-growing coniferous evergreen tree much used in horticulture, primarily for hedges and screens.

it’s a bugger though. You don’t really want it. Far better choices such as beech or for a slightly faster-growing hedge with a similar look, I would recommend hornbeam

It’s actually quite slow growing so only gets trimmed twice a year.
