    UPDATE

    Took it back to scan. The motherboard will not take the 7600 intel CPU. So luckily they changed it for one it will take (according to the asus website) but it still won't work.

    so left it with them, they think it's something to do with the bios (which they tried to refresh 2-3 times but with no luck)

    Sounds like it might be a classic case of having to upgrade the bios to take the chip but you can not get into the bios to do it with out first getting hold of a supported chip.

    Asus boards used to be awesome, Gigabyte are the ones to buy now.

    I had to return two new boards till 3rd time lucky in May on a brand new
    board but once it fired it was great.

    Can be a bad batch.

    Hope it gets sorted.

    Ebuyer was very good in a speedy exchange.
