  • New brake hose… can't bleed!?

Just put a new rear brake hose on my Hope E4 brake… now I can’t seem to bleed the damn thing.

Usual bleed procedure followed like I’ve done many a time before but when I pull the lever the fluid level in the reservoir stays the same (bleed nipple on calliper end is open so air and fluid has somewhere to go)

So I removed the hose from the calliper end incase there was some kind of airlock but still the fluid level in the lever reservoir stays the same when I pull the lever….

So I took the hose off at both ends and I can blow air through it so it’s not blocked…

I pulled the lever with the hose disconnect and fluid shot out the end so the lever is doing its job…

    Reassembled and the problem persists…

    Any ideas?

    have you tried reverse bleeding?

Syringe on bleed nipple[ with pipe etc] and pump upwards to the lever

    Bingo! Thanks Junkyard!

Used an old non-stealth reverb syring to put some fluid in from the calliper end. Everything back to normal now!

I wonder why the lever wasn’t pushing fluid into the hose before when there was air in there??

I once tried bleeding the front lever and rear calliper, worked quite well bizarrely.
