Got a Race Face Evolve BB/crankset on my Solaris. Single chainring – Race Face NW 30T.

Halfway through my ride today I thought something was wrong: rather a lot of play in the bottom bracket 😯 Looks like the bearings have gone, well they sound like it. A quick Google indicates that replacing the bearings requires some accuracy (STW thread – http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/which-replacement-bb-for-race-face-evolve ) so I might put in a standard external BB – probably a Hope. So what crankset would be suitable for the NW 30T?

Why replace the cranks just because the BB is worn? Face the frame & fit new BB, XTR on CRC @ £25 or Hope would be my choice.

Any 104mm BCD cranks will fit the chainring.

No need to replace the cranks.

I didn’t fit the BB/crankset, I’d assumed that the two were matched in one of those wonderful new standards that keeps popping up. Also, partly because removing the cranks is, err, different.

If it’s compatible with HT2 then I’ll just replace the BB with a Hope.
