    A bit.
BTW. Dan was asking me if I knew you on Thursday.
I said I had no idea who he was even talking about. 🙂

    I just don’t get fatbikes.

It’s like someone decided to take the best parts of bike evolution over the last 30 years, then produced the complete opposite.

    I just don’t get fatbikes.

    Good for you.

    They’re not for everyone.
    Have you tried one?
Or do you just not like the look of them?
To me they’re like going back 30 years when riding bikes off road was fun, cheap and simple. 😀
Except fatbikes actualy work for more than one ride without breaking.

    Dan?

Oh what’s his face on the mainstream phat? I’ve only met him once when I was in the Duke pished. Probably made an even bigger dick of myself

    Impossible. 😉

That Spech is the only one in the UK so it’s maybe the nichest bike over here ATM.

    Good for you.

Wooah, no fighting talk please, I’m not that sort.

No, I’ve not tried one, and I guess I wouldn’t mind just for the experience, but doesn’t detract from all that I said, which is that “I don’t get” them.

Straining to see what fork that is.

Uh huh. He’s been taking some nice pix of it (oh I never replied to your message. Shall do tomorrow. Sorry! Too lazy/tired to do it now)

    bear.
The good for you wasn’t fighting talk.
It was a little tongue in cheek piss take.

I don’t understand loads of things i’ve not tried either.

I guess I wouldn’t mind just for the experience

That’s how I started off on them a few years back.
Now unless i’m going to a downhill destination it’s all i ride.
Though i did do a couple of runs on our local dowhill trails on it today.

I don’t see any snow or sand dunes

    Cool, let’s hug 😀

Honestly though, I just don’t understand the physics – ideal for cycling in snow, sand or maybe serious gloop, but what pleasure do they bring, in what scenario in the UK?

Serious question, and yes, I probably should ride one before I comment – but like I said, I just don’t get them!

    On-ones don’t like water or salty sand…

The sand dunes are bellow the lower slopes of the sandstone cave.

Joking apart I couldn’t believe how sandy it’s got again after the bogfest of the last couple of months.

You need to experience the grip you get on off camber roots with a tubeless 4″ tyre at 8psi to understand how much fun they are for trail riding. 🙂

I’ve ridden an OO fatty, a Mukluk, a Jones & a Beargrease never wanted one after

Fun they are but I’d only have one if it snowed consistently or I didn’t live about as far from a beach as you can probably get in the UK

I have no probs with others riding them though, riding is riding innit

Do you not like fun or multiple bikes then.

Is it cuz they iz shit on canal towpathz? 😛

    1) Bikes are great
    2) Bouncy castles are great
    3) Bike x Bouncy castle = FUN

    Northwind.
    I like that.

Reminds me of a comment from someone when Mrs ssstu stopped at a pub on her Mukluk.
Drunk person stares at bike the shouts across the carpark ” Are those begginers wheels?”

    LOLcanoes from both of us.

Ok, I’ll back away as I feel I’m probably getting into a conversation that has probably been had many times before. I get the grip aspect, just nothing else about them.

I don’t want to be an arse about it, just personally, on an average ride, I’d rather have the benefits of gears/lighter bike and go a bit slower than get physically battered pedalling an arctic lorry!

I guess I should ride one though before passing judgement.

I’m struggling to say anything witty or thought provoking & the only thing I can think of is I quite like the colour of the sticker “on one” I have a car that colour….

Not ridden anything else since I got my Fatty and considering selling bikes to get some upgrades. Not the fastest or lightest bike I have but the smiliest.

Hose down with freshwater and a squirt of oil afterwards and they’re fine 😀

I’ve ridden a few fatties in my time, just never one with 2 wheels 😳 😈

Does the same logic apply, that the best looking bikes aren’t necessarily the best ride????
