I’ve been missing my Singlespeed for local rides since I was forced to sell it last year to fund house repairs.

Well, a year on (and after coming across the Litespeed frame for very little) it was time to build a cheaper (£700 vs £2200) replacement.

I’m fairly chuffed with it for what it cost. What’d’ya think?

There’s not many of them here in UK especially in SS mode. Here’s mine,

Why does the head angle on the two bikes look so different?

    preciousmetals

    Dunno!?

Mines a large with 100mm fork and slammed 30mm stack stem.
The angle of which I took photo maybe?

Also a large, but with 120mm 34s which might explain it. The A2C of 120mm 34s is 47mm larger than the 32s iirc, so possibly ~70mm difference to a set of equivalent 100mm forks.

I need to flip the stem and possibly bring it down.

Also still need a King headset, but wasn’t willing to pay £120, and got shafted on the £55 one I bought from PB.

    Yeah, it’s a Thomson.

Yes it’s a Thommyson ti 730mm 12 degree bend version.

    The chain looks too tight.

I like your diddy ocoee, I used to have an obed from same era in satin ti which felt soooooo floaty over tree branches etc.

Shame it had a 150 mm odd length head tube and sod all room for standover.

Edit) my chain is too tight also and one link added to get enough length as 38T ring vs a 19T is angled downwards towards the ring tooth. Think of it as a stiff link so will swap out to a 34T soon.

How can you possibly determine that my chain is too tight??

For the record, I have ~10mm of displacement in the middle.

Thanks for the info, I had thought about a Ti bar but need some rise. Curious as to when Litespeed started designing bendy downtubes, are your frames quite recent?

At the famous sharki ride in the Quantocks there was a guy on a Litespeed, don’t know his name. A couple of years ago I was talking to a roadie on a Litespeed. They’re seen occasionally.

preciousmetals – had a weekend demo’ing a too big Obed with 140 forks, first ride on Ti and was amazed at the difference. The Ocoee is my bike for life, assuming that I’ll be able to ride a bike again.

A Ti ss sounds super-fast and fun so enjoy those lovely bikes. 🙂

Mine’s actually quite heavy – the frame is more burly than my Pegasus and when coupled with the 34 forks, it’s over 23lbs…

Mines a 2015 according to the receipt that came with it…

Daffy – 23lbs is NOT heavy.
Plus your’s is a MY ’14 if it comes with Ti diamond head ltube badge.
What you need to do is ride it not psycho anaylise weights and parts etc.

    😉

P.s. Cinnamon girl – I purchased frame from Wiggle as a 2014 only to find it has a 2012 headtube badge. 😯
What’s with that although it was excellent vfm.

Lovely massive tube set and weld areas.

Mine’s fairly racey tbh as 100mm fork with slammed front end.

    All mint!

Except for green flat pedals aaaaaaarrrgghh. Not racey!

    Can’t do clipped in!

So wanted to give plastic ballistic nylon pedals a go 😀
Green was meant to be subtle along with headset and seat clamp.

    Plus they were £30

23lbs? Are you chaps running 650B wheels? Not sure what mine weighs since forks and wheels were changed, possibly just under 23lbs and that’s including a 9 speed triple.

Weird about the headtube badge and year though.

Original build with DT forks and DT/Hope wheels:

Cohutta is a 29er and yes odd Wiggle lied about when selling a 2014 frames when in fact they were 2012s so the head tube badge would suggest.

I’m guessing mine weighs 20lbs or so…? Not fussed but know I can lift with my broken little finger haha

Perhaps not heavy, but heavy compared to this:

Which was a shade over 19.5lbs.

I like the original build CG…well, except for the humongous rise on the stem 🙂

Love how all the rivers and trails in my planned retirement area are named after Litespeed bikes 😉 Cohutta wilderness rocks! 8)

    Hmmmmmm, I might need one.

Where are these bargain litespeeds on wiggle? Or was £700 secondhand?

    Gone now.

Even Evans don’t hold stock anymore of Litespeed MTB frames.

Yeah I couldn’t understand Daffy, perhaps he got his 2nd for £700 vs £2200 of 2015 rrp.

The whole bike (I already had the wheels) was £700. The previous Pegasus (above) sold for £2200.

I haven’t read a single report of cracked Cohutta frame.

I’ve also had the privilege of owning two previous Litespeed frames. Both were perfect.
