  • New bike or new frame/forks/wheels?

Inspired by another thread this morning where someone else is hankering over the New RFX.

Current bike is a 6 pack that’s very nicely equipped but the frame and fork is ten years old (although the damper is newer and nicer).

    The drive is xtr 3×9.

Would you go for a rolling chassis and swap the finishing kit, drive and brakes over

    Or

Buy a complete bike 1×11 with some cheaper kit and start the whole upgrade process again?

I’m thinking that the 6 pack is worth nothing second hand either as a bike or rolling chassis so might as well keep it but would it see much use next to an RFX?

If you like your current running gear then swap it over….You will likely need forks and wheels going from 26 to 27.5 which is no bad thing as there are some great forks around at the moment like Mattocs, Pikes, Sweeps, 36s etc

Your 3×9 running gear is deeply unfashionable but its quality XTR kit so I’d run it into the ground before going 2×10 or 1×11.
