I need a new helmet for use when riding on the road, the requirements are:

Good looking will not make me look(even more of) a dork.
Comfortable with enough adjustment to use a buff or cap underneath.
    Better than average impact absorption.
    Well ventilated.
    Good sweat management.
    Lightweight.

Any reasons to pay big bucks and any suggestions?

Fit is the most important thing though, go to a shop and try a few on.

I got a Giro Savant from Cycle Surgery last year as they were doing them cheap.
First Giro helmet and massively impressed. Looks about as good as a helmet can, fits well, easy to adjust, light…

Specialized helmets are rather good. I will be getting a spesh for the mtb when my Giro needs replacing as my prevail is bloody brilliant. The cheaper ones are just as good from what I’ve seen.
