Wife’s work place is doing the old cyclescheme thing only they’ve set a limit of £600!

Anyway, she normally rides a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR and prefered the mens version to the womens. There’s a little bit of bridalway to do but it’s 80% roads. She doesn’t like drop bars or anything that’s not disc brakes. So, would anyone like to suggest a disc brake equiped mountain bike that will take a rack and cost less than £600?

So far, she’s looking at the Rockhopper disc and the trek 6000

Genesis and Commencal are doing some very nice bikes round about that price point, not sure if they have rack mounts though.

how about a hybrid with a hub gear for lower maintainence – rather than another “true” MTB which she doesn’t need?

We have discussed alternative bikes. I’ve pointed out that a hybrid would do a better job but she really wants to include that bit of bridalway and he riding style can be a little direct at times. I can see me spending a lot of time sorting her wheels out if we went with a hybrid.

I’ll have a closer look at the Genesis and the Commy.

    Cheers.
