I am lucky enough to be getting my £1000 Cycle to Work voucher very soon, which leaves me in a bit of a dilemma…
My cycle to the station is 7 miles on relatively flat roads, I have two young kids that I want to cycle with (on and off road), I want I bike I can take most places and not worry about it being nicked, I have a dog that likes to come out whilst I am riding off road (but I have a full sus for that too). I want minimum maintenance and good reliability.
Therefore I have narrowed my choice to either a Kona Unit 29er singlespeed or a Whyte C7 (essentially a skinny tyre’d 29er with gears).

Ignoring brand likes/dislikes – what would be the best practical hack?

And show me you yours please?!

Look at a Surly Karate Monkey too. Absolutely loving mine. It made my 456ti feel “wrong” when I rode it. The Surly felt so “right”.

The frame is a gem. As much as I thought the kit on the bike was a bit under spec, it actually really nice stuff, even the cable operated Avid BB7 disc brakes.

Triton cycles doing them for £640, complete bike.
