  • New bars wanted – light, wide, riser and cheap – any recs?

The wife has just asked what I want for my birthday next week. I thought of these:

Look and sound great, but any good – or are there better, ie cheaper ones just as light and strong that anyone uses or knows of?

    Criteria – minimum 700mm wide, 31.8 centre and a 'rise' – currently run Sunline V2's at 340g

As an aside, weren't these recalled recently…

Only the OS Sunlines were recalled, if I remember right.

I've got two pairs of the Easton DH bars and I like them very much- but wouldn't pay the full £130 and they are some weight similar aluminium/scandium bars out not.

They do have a ten year warranty though, and have bee perfect on my DH bike.

Gusset are making a 760mm bar with a 19mm rise. Retail is 29.99 iirc..

Should be a bargain. Can be bought through ison distributors.

I have the NukeProof ones and like them very much, very wide and not too heavy.

Not as cheap as the Gusset but they are lighter.

And for comparison I am guessing these are the Gusset ones mentioned above

I also rate the nukeproof – they also have the markings to cut them down to the 700mm

**** me.. £70+ quid I thought you said cheap!!! Anyhow, all bars are not same for comfort, you need to know what sweep etc you like, I bought 1 set of bars that I could never get used to… My USE Atom carbon risers are lovely, but mybe not as wide or high as your after…

I've got some Sunline V1 bars which I am might pleased with, v light, look good, comfy, 711mm width is spot on, not carbon. I think they will be noticeably nicer than the V2's.

+1 for ddmonkey. Really like the V1s. Perfect width/rise and sweep. Light but stiff, not silly money.

    Thanks guys.

Just looking through the web, and it seems its either the Easton DH's (if I can find a deal) for lightness or Sunline V1's/Burgtec's for 'value'.
