So where is all the news on tablets and ipods with cameras?

tablet schmablet. It'd be a big shock if that was announced today. As big a shock as finding a killer reason to bring them to market in the first place.
Still, what do I know- I was doubtful about the ipod's longetivity… and why people would use itunes when we had napster. and why they'd buy an iphone when they already had an ipod and a nokia.
