Apart from heading over to Aviemore is there any good riding in the immediate area?

Yes.

There is, twisty woodland singletrack rather than steep n gnarly. Local stuff in the woods around the school, and up towards the Ryvoan route, and some great stuff next to Lochs Garten and Mallachie, all a couple of mins’ ride from the village.

Woods above Boat of Garten are magic, also the woods east of Carrbridge. Burnside is about a 20-30 min ride away.

I still manage to get lost in the woods occasionally despite living there for eight years. Ryvoan/sluggan is a nice circuit albeit with a bit of road but there’s loads about.

Cheers, sounds ideal especially with Burnside quite close.

There’s a fabulous stretch between Forest Lodge and the Big Egg (Eag Mhor).

the stuff in the woods – to the W of the village – would keep you busy for quite a while! there are some sublime sections there, not sure I could find them again — “follow your nose” stuff.

Some to the E a bit as well – round back of Bob Dylan’s house, but firewood in the main. Very pretty though. Then further over you have Braes of Abernathy / Forest Lodge / Ryvoan.

There may also be a pump track and doubles in someone’s garden in the village…..shhhh

Did you know about the felling in the woods on the East side? The bottom of the trails have been trashed.
