I'm after a new watch...tell time, shock and water proof and not chunky. Not wanting to spend a lot so what is recommended please?

Used for all kinds of stuff from social through to office wear, like g shocks but all seem chunky. Got a Protrek needing a new battery so £23 and 10th days without it. I don't use the functions any more and it is now too chunky for my 'needs'.

Get a seiko off ebay. There's loads and 60 odd will get you a good one. Or if you can be bothered to spend a bit more find something with tritium (maybe a Traser) capsules as they glow in the dark without charging. I really like my one.
