How can it be avoided?
It can’t. She was a train wreck of a human being who could not be helped and wouldn’t help herself. The ending was predictable and inevitable. She did nothing for me as a singer, I was indifferent to her as an artist, and her death is only significant to those close to her. Sadly there are those who see such people as romantic and idolise them. The reality is they are tragic losers who should be pitied not idolised. I’m waiting for Docherty to be the next one.
Before I get accused of being cynical and bitter, I’m not, there are artists who have died through accident or sudden natural causes who’s loss I feel keenly, as their music touched me deeply and their sudden death’s have robbed the world of genuinely creative talents much too soon through no fault of their own. Sandy Denny and Jeff Buckley being two examples.
