I had a very narrow escape today with an articulated lorry on the A49 north of Shrewsbury. Not a particularly wide stretch of road and no run off areas. Riding along when I see a tractor on the other carriageway followed by a couple of wagons. Wagon number 1 starts his overtaking manouvre, so I move into the centre of the carriageway waving an arm, just so he can see me better. He did because he was flashing his headlamps and continued his manouvre forcing me into the verge and passing with inches to spare... There for the grace of god, etc..
I have what I believe is the company and am about to fire an email off to them for a response, their driver is simply a danger to other road users ands is, in my opinion, a menace.
The Police have said they will look further into it if this is what I want and can identify the driver.
What are my chances of finding him?
The company is based in the south (bloody southerners!!) and are unlikely to have a fleet of wagons on this stretch of road at about 11:20 this morning.
The Police have said that they have the ability to force the company to hand the drive over.
i'm not looking to prosecute for personal gain as I wasn't damaged or even shaken up that much, just to have this bast4rd know that he/she (I'm confident it was a he from his look and gestures from the cab) can't put other road users' lives at risk.
Is it worth chasing?
Or is it just enough to have a wee rant on here to get it off my chest?

Go for it, might prevent something in the future to you or someone else.

You're alive and while it might be very poor driving you're unlikely to get anywhere with it the company will claim they don't know who it was that was driving.
Does just make you wish there were more police about on the roads thought doesn't it to force people to follow the rules...

Yeah can't see how they'd be able to reasonably claim they can't trace the driver if you have the location and time, whether they would (without you getting the police involved) is a different matter, still worth doing though.

I also do a high number of road miles. What constitutes high number?
Email sent to them.
The Policeman I spoke to, who was also a cyclist, seemed quite happy that I was rational and not ranting to sue the arse off everyone and concluded that it's really down to me. Email gone and I'm quite sure I don't want it to end here as the driver seemed to believe it was OK to put peoples' lives at risk.

I was thinking GPS in the wagon, when I was talking to the Police, which might show crossing the white line (if accurate enough), but I think the tacho acceleration will be a better indicator.Posted 3 months ago # -
I really can't see them going into that sort of detail for , what to them, will simply look like a complaint of a dodgy manoeuvre

Which is why I'll look at the translation services of the Police. I'm well aware of where it could go, but if the driver has a history with the company...

I'm with jota180's thinking. It'll get thrown to the bottom of the pile below things where people got hurt, and eventually forgotten. Not trying to be negative, but I just don't see it being worth the police time and effort to follow up in a he said she said argument. If you'd been hit/injured they'd probably think about it.

If you don't nag them they definitely won't take action. Keep on it.
To be fair most of the HGV drivers round our way are pretty decent - it's transits, 4x4 and buses that need watching.
