I’m offended that you would all praise a shot in which a fish is clearly struggling, and most likely to become food for a rapacious, ego-centric bird. Shame on you. Will no one think about the fish?

Shame the resolution is so low as that’s an absolutely stunning image. Is that straight from the camera or has he cropped/re-framed? There are some photo competitions to be won if he’s so inclined…

He mustv’e done ok with some competitions, It’s his passion but he’s still just an ‘amateur’. I have actually questioned if theyr’e his photo’s!

    He does squirrels as well.

Apparently the Osprey shot was taken from a hide near Aviemore, right place, right time & was the best out of the 20 he rattled off.
You don’t always have time to play around with settings I reckon.

I’d be pretty chuffed with that! To those being picky, about it, please, show us your better shots of an osprey catching a fish, let us choose which is the better photo.

Fair enough Stevedoc but theyr’e all captive birds! Not hard to compose or catch are they? I deleted all the one’s I took at http://www.icbp.org/index/ the other day cos they just looked staged (cos they were)

    Anymore proper wildlife shots?

    stevedoc
    Free Member

Yes they were captive but beyond looked after and flown every day, it was just a true pleasure being that close to something so stunning

I know where your’e coming from Steve, the birds at Duncombe Park are amazing & the guy who runs the place is the most passionate person on his subject I’ve ever met! It’s well worth a visit!

You’ll never get a photo as good as Andy’s Osprey though.

    stevedoc

Nope ,its stunning right place right time , he could spend the next 10 years trying and not get an images as good

It’s a cracking moment in time but it’ll not win many awards.

Really? Why’s that then? You must know! Are you Andy Rouse?

(BTW, Who said it would win any awards)

He should submit that for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year – http://www.nhm.ac.uk/press-office/Wildlife-Photographer-of-the-Year.html – I’ve been most years and that photo would definitely stand out.

He mightv’e done already Philby but he just sticks his stuff on FB usually. He’s got some terrific shots of wildlife in Africa & New Zealand also, he’s switched on so I assume he’s thought about it.
