Had the cyclist been ‘careless’, and knocked him down, breaking his neck, would he really expect anything as little as a£400 fine? I think not…

It does seem a tad on the soft side as far as punishment goes

I have great sympathy for Mr. Lane but I also believe that it is no longer advisable to ride a bicycle in our overcrowded country. If Mr. Burns’ view was obstructed by crowds of people, what choice did he have but to inch forwards to try to see if the road was clear? The only alternative would have been to switch off his engine and wait for an hour until everyone had gone home. Riding a bicycle is dangerous. Most of the time a cyclist is too small a figure to be noticed by lorry and bus drivers, Would you be happy if your child/grandchild was cycling around in an overcrowded city?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear 🙄

Carless driving is truly one of the great evils in our society. 😉

You would think, though, if there is an issue with visibility, one of the coppers could step out and ensure the coast was clear.

Totally avoidable, when you think about it, and a man has been left with severe injuries, as a result.
