So I’ve cobbled together a mount for my Gemini light using a GoPro side mount kit, an M4 bolt and some M4 washers.

And then trimmed some of the peak of my helmet to fit it at the front (the angles available from the bracket on the mount made this the better place to put it for vertical range of adjustment).

I’m quite pleased with the result, my only reservation is that the curve of the adhesive mount is shallower than the curve of the helmet at this point, so maybe only 50% of the pad contacts the helmet.

If it had gone on top it wouldn’t have been possible to tilt the light for enough down. Seems pretty solid though. Time will tell 🙂

Yep! It was really easy to trim though.

Like the idea of running the cable internally, might have to experiment with that.

Be interested to hear how you get on with it, I did try running mine in front of the mount like yours but felt it more stable behind – shame as it sat lower in front but deffo a bit less stable over rough stuff.

I just poke it in that vent then out one of the back ones and down inside my jacket. The channels inside are plenty big enough for the cable to run along without bothering ones head.

You might find it a bit front heavy in use and pull the helmet forward in use. Battery mounted on the rear if the helmet would balance it or some over counter balance

+1 on the balance issue, I mount right on top for this reason (with battery pack in rucsack)

I wondered about that, and then I looked at my neck and thought, nah, that’ll be fine 🙂

Our night rides are a couple of hours at most, and I did it this way so it’s a five second job to take the light on/off when not needed.

78g for the light vs 320ish for the helmet. I’m not sure it’s a huge amount further forward then it was with its supplied tube and rubber O ring mount.

I’ll probably just tape two emergency bars of Dairy Milk to the back of it.

I wonder if there is some sort of adhesive-ish substance I could run round the gap? Nothing harsher than whatever the 3M stuff already on there is.

Guess you don’t ride in the woods at night then 😉 First low branch and all. Seem to catch mine on everything at night but fine during the day, yes I do leave the light mounted from time to time. Yeh,Sugru would work.
