Brain all wiped out from wedding planning.

Sweet Child of Mine goes down well, as does Reef’s “Put yer ‘aaaands on”

Have a wander over to DJ Andy Smith’s website and download a whole load of dirty funking loveliness! Some great rare ska/soul/funk stuff there.

Best of luck to you both!

By the way Peter, I have “access” (via a colleague) to many many MP3s of up to date chart material. If you want anything like this, I can stick them up on Rapidshare.

Dez, the DJ we are using has a massive selection of stuff we can request in advance via their website, we don’t need to source it ourselves
    😀

Wedding songs should be chosen by the DJ. Thats what you pay a DJ for, not only for music/lights, but to get the people up and dancing… No point in playing all the songs that you like, if no one’s going to dance to them.

More often than not, if songs were requested before the function, then played when they asked, the dancefloor emptied pretty quickly.. A good DJ can see what music gets the people going, and will play the music that keeps em dancing all night long! But it is also nice to know the types of music that people like. I would not play much rock music, as most people won’t dance to it, and the people that requested it, usually just sit there smiling rocking there head to the beat.

White wedding, celebration, ymca, macarena – Cheese to be played when everyone is pissed! (Can’t believe I suggested those songs 😳 )

Just because that’s the way everybody else does it, doesn’t make it right!
Because all I’ll get then is a load of old cheesy crap (Like you suggested) and nothing decent.
We’ve sent the link they set up to all the guests and they get to make requests too.
There’ll be time for some other stuff on the night too (including some quality cheese, yes, just not wall to wall cheese!), but I expressly DON’T want is the same old stuff you hear at every other wedding. You should see the track listing now. Wow.
I’m not going to post said listing because there are people on STW who will be attending….
    🙂
