It costs surprisingly little when you have a mate who is head of IT at a school and currently replacing a lot of stuff. Plus, 200mbps? Pshaw!
Music streaming / house networking
Plenty fast enough to stream ANYTHING. Hands up who's got a home ISP connection that is > 200mbs?
Not many in the UK I bet.
*Puts up hand*
But it's not *just* streaming anyway - no doubt I'll be copying files about, backing stuff up... Can never have too much bandwidth.
Ha, I did wonder if I needed a caveat at the end.
Haha, I know I'm in the minority.
Nah doctorgnash, your not right,I upgraded from tplink av200 to gbit 600 as the 200 were too slow to stream bluray, admitedley everything else worked. Also a direct connection oberv cat 6 is much faster for backups and transfers than Gbit av 600. My point is 200 is old news, spend a bit more, you can even get 1000. Also they are not 600 or 1000mbps way slower in reality

Sonos is way overpriced for what it is.
Haven't used bandcamp much, but use Bleep a bit for the same reasons you state. Don't like Spotify. I used to use it, but stopped when I heard how little the artists make.
*edit* Yeah I have a nice old amp and speakers that I want to use, which is another tick against Sonos.
My Sonos looks like this:
(Scuse the mess, we're moving.) Sounds great.
+1 for Synology too
DLNA enabled amp, play from phone (free app) or NAS via phone, job done.
