BBC headline was “Murray not overawed by Nadal semi” 🙂

Hmm not the best start for Murray.

Presumably he was expecting some stiff competition?

Yup a hard one for him.

A set down. He’s going to have to come from behind now.

On clay, highly unlikely. Nadal is tough even on cement or grass but on clay unless he’s injured its his match to lose.

1 year older than Murray and 13 grand slams vs 2. What a player.

The reality is that IMO no previous generation has had the likes of Federer+Nadal+Djokovic fighting amongst the top 3 places for so long. Murray will go down as one of the best players of this generation, two of the other three will go down as being the best ever.

Indeed, I guess the Fuentes blood bag info will be released at some point.

I’d rather carry on with the willy jokes 🙂

Murray needs to be absolutely at the top of his game and also to play very aggressively to have any chance against Nadal.

He isn’t anywhere near it – his 1st serve percentage is 40% I just saw, which is really poor. I thought his serve was getting better.

Nadal is only beatable if he is really put under pressure with deep, fast and heavy balls, and then the fact that he plays the ball from further back in his stance than everyone else shows up and he seems slow.

I have seen Murray and Federer play him like that, but they rarely keep it going for the whole match.

Murray is trying to come from behind and take a hold, but Nadal just won’t let him.

Semi reaching its climax, I can’t believe it’ll be over so quickly.

    Semi reaching its climax

    Is that technically possible?

Murray was on the end of a right pounding.

Nadal is hitting his balls so hard Murray is forced to bend over backwards to accommodate him

    and they are so heavy…

whereas players like Federer get something like 4.5k revs on the balls they hit, Nadal gets more like 6.5k I think.

It’s all in the wrist and the way he brushes up the back of the balls. Not a lazy lob in sight.

    Have I missed it ?

Did Murray wilt early on, making for a flaccid affair or was Nadal magnificently rampant, showering Andy with his unstoppable balls and leaving the tie out of his reacharound the end of the 1st set ?
