Thinking of doing SITS and want a back up single speed using a frame I have with teeny tyres if it gets wet and want to find a chain-tensioner that can handle the wet/grass horror that I recall from 2008.

It appears most tensioners have a single, 11 tooth jockey wheel with a cage, which I could imagine clogging with grass? Have also seen DMR ones with an open, none tooth jockey wheel. Any better?

Any helpful input is greatly appreciated.

Gosh ure brave…did that event in 08 and vowed never to go back haha!!
    Back to the question…
I have both types of tensioner and have to say the DMR is excellent and keeps u riding through all sorts of crap.

Braveness and stupidity are common allies 😉

Cheers for the input, its what I suspected and wanted to hear! 🙂

I have ridden some truly horrendous conditions with my Rohloff tensioner with no problems.

Although it has two jockey wheels the spring is uber strong keeping the chainline etc.

One on ebay at the moment for around £20.

I have had three Surly tensioners and each has been problematic.
