My wife wants us to go on a special family holiday for her 40th to a beach destination in April in a developed tropical country with both beach and MTB riding available. So far we came up with Florida or Hawaii. Oz or NZ is too far. Canada and California too cold. Has anyone been riding in Florida or Hawaii? Any recommendations on specific locations?

    Cheers

    Florida is pancake flat.
    Hawaii is mountainous.

    There’s your decision.

Having been to Florida a few times with work plus a Florida-based Strava ‘friend’, it’s flat. As in fenland flat.

Or maybe I’ve just not seen the high stuff. Nope just Googled it, max height is 345 feet.

Some good riding in Hawaii apparently…I would even bother thinking about riding in Florida.

Agreed – having visited both Mtbing in Florida is not worth the hassle-
Hawaii is not as straight forward as you may think- you’ll have to pick your Islands as some are exclusively road focused- you’re best off having a browse of some of the US forums and trying to pick up on a group ride or finding a bike shop that does ride outs – esp as some terrain is inaccessible or protected.
