Stupidly I assumed that all HTII BBs were the same, have just gone to put a spare mtb one in the road bike and realised they aren’t. Does anyone know the difference and/or what spacers to use to make up the difference?

    Cheers

If I remember correctly the roads ones are slightly wider by 1mm.

That would make sense. Of course I only have one 1mm spacer when I’ll obviously need two!!

To run a Shimano MTB HT2 bb on a roadbike, use no spacers at all and re use the centre tube from your old bb (the mtb one is too long).

Ran an Uberbike MTB one for a while in my road bike, no problems at all.

The cups are definitely wider on the road one. Probably could just run no spacers but my knees don’t thank me at the best of times! Found another 1mm spacer so everything looks as it should again

    Just measured then in work.
Both road and mtb cups appear to be 10mm.

Mine definitely aren’t, had them sitting side my side and there was a visible difference. BB was OEM on a Sora chain set if that makes any difference.

Merlin were selling 105 bb for under 8 quid and ultegra for 12.
