I have seen a few Swiss residents posting on here. We are thinking of a family holiday to Zurich for a week in October. I would want to try and ride there, maybe a days guided tour and/or a shop ride but would need to hire a bike – can anybody recommend anywhere for me?
    cheers

I think there is stuff to the east. Ash from TrailAddiction could probably give you some pointers. Although he’s in Basel.

there is an afternoons riding on Uetliberg. This is the big ridge on the west side of Zurich. Some excellent downhill trails. Most are waymarked.

A couple of the bike stores in town will hire out bikes and give you a map. I guess the nearest day out in the hills will be around Flumserberg (the nearest decent ski resort). Not sure if there are any guides there.

I run the Swiss Alpine Adventure site mentioned above. Get in touch and let me know exactly what you are looking for.

I’m based just outside Zurich and can point you in the direction of some great trail riding not too far outside the city centre or further out into the mountains if that’s what takes your fancy.
