I’m down in East Yorks visiting relatives for Christmas and I’m thinking of taking my bike as an excuse to escape for a bit. 😀

Does anyone know any good routes? I’ve been looking at pics of the Wolds Way which looks nice.

My overriding memories of the Yorkshire Wolds can be summed up in one word: bleak. Muddy, chalky, often windy, very sparsely populated and not a very interesting landscape visually. Oh, and most of the hills seem to get steeper as they go up.

Dalby Forest or other rides on the North York Moors are probably a much better bet.

Some nice valleys around Thixendale, and bit hillier round there so a couple of alright descents. A lot of the rest is flattish, just a bit uppy downy (technical term), nothing to taxing. Nice in the snow that we’ve got at the moment.
